BC invites 72 workers under its new BC tech pilot PNP program

On August 25, 2020, the province of British Columbia issued invitations under its latest BC PNP Tech Pilot Program draw to apply for Canada PR. A total of 72 invitations were issued to people with a minimum score of 80 points in multiple categories including the following: –

1. SI – Skilled Worker

2. SI – International Graduate

3. EEBC – Skilled Worker

4. EEBC – International Graduate

The province holds weekly Tech Pilot draws, which are aimed to help candidates with job offers in eligible occupations. The Tech Pilot Program itself is aimed to boost BC’s IT sector-based recruitment efforts in order address the Labour Market requirements of the province.

Prince Edward Island held its biggest ever PNP draw

The province of Prince Edward Island – PEI invited 305 candidates for permanent residence under its PNP program aimed at multiple categories.

On Aug 20, 2020 PEI issued PNP based invitations for Canadian PR to 305 candidates. This was the single largest ever draw held by the province under its PNP – Provincial Nominee Program. Out of the 305 invitations, 277 invitations were issued to Express Entry and Labour market impact candidates, followed by 28 invitations issued to Business Impact candidates

Visitors can apply for Work Permit from Inside Canada

IRCC issued a temporary policy to help Canadian Employers and Temporary Residents get work permits from within Canada.

On August 24 2020, the minister of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada – IRCC Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino, announced a temporary public policy In order to reduce the effects of Covid-19 on Canadian employers and temporary visitors to Canada.

As per the press release, temporary residents currently inside Canada will be able to apply for work permits, without having to leave the country. This policy will allow temporary residents to maintain legal status inside Canada while the pandemic is still not over. Additionally, the Canadian employers who have been struggling to find workers during these hard times will be benefited through this policy. In the event that no Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident is available to fulfill the requirements of an employer, an LMIA could be issued to help the employer meet the demand of the labour requirements.

In order to be eligible for a work permit, the temporary resident must:

· Have a valid status of a visitor inside Canada as of August 24, 2020

· Have a valid job offer

· Submit an application for Labour Market Impact Assessment – LMIA or must be apply for a job that is LMIA exempt

· Meet the other eligibility criteria for a work permit

This policy also provides relief to temporary workers who had work permits in the past 12 months. They may start working for their new employer even before the work permit has been fully approved IRCC.

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program opens tomorrow for the International Student stream

Ontario is opening applications on August 19, 2020 for all International students who already have their job offers and are seeking provincial nomination for PR in Ontario.

Now, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) will begin accepting applications for the Employer Job Offer: International student stream from August 19, 2020.

As per the latest update, they will not be accepting applications for the Master’s Graduate or Foreign Worker stream. Due to some technical issues, the link for Foreign Worker registration would be active, but none of the applications would be considered for the process.

The International student stream applications would begin during business hours from 9 a.m EST and the link would be closed once the registration spots are filled.

IRCC drops 2 points from the Cutoff, 3,900 candidates invited

IRCC held its latest express entry draw on August 5th 2020, and dropped the CRS score by 2 points. A total of 3900 candidates from all programs were invited in this draw to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.

In recent Express Entry draw # 158 held by IRCC3900 ITAs were issued by the IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada)  to candidates with CRS score of 476 or above. The draw was open to all  programs including the regular Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program – PNP and Canadian Experience Class – CEC. This draw was 2 points lower than the previous all-program draw held by IRCC on July 08th, having a minimum cut off of 478 points.

Ever since the pandemic has hit the entire world, around 40,000 ITAs for Canada PR have been issued in a total of 21 draws till now. The immigration  authorities have been taking special precautionary measures to lower the  impact of COVID-19 on international travelers coming in and out of Canada.
